Stoneyfield Lochs - Senior Competition June 2006
Donald Ross won the Senior Competition
on Stoneyfield Lochs with a fish of 23/4lbs. The weather
was overcast but dry and there was quite a lot of activity later in the evening.
Stoneyfield Lochs - Junior Competition June 2006
The Junior Competition was not so
good with no fish to be had, although G.Tillman . There was talk on the committee
of organising a mini bus for the juniors to take them to another fishing water
- date and place to be decided. Some sponsorship has already been given by our
members to fund this trip to encourage Juniors.
Heaviest Fish of
the Year Competition 2005
Dan Robertson 9 1/2 lbs won the senior competition and
Conor Ross the Junior with a 1 1/4 lb fish
Tarvie Lochs - Senior Competition July 2005
Alan Cameron again won the Senior
Competition on Tarvie Lochs with a fish just under 3lbs. The weather was very
hot and there was not a lot of co-operation from the water.

The Loch Shinn competition organised by Lairg Angling Club saw Alan Cameron coming 4th with 2 fish. Approximately 40 others were fishing the loch which included Dunc Fraser, Neil Mackenzie and Ian McHardie.
The Caithness and Sutherland Trout Angling Group competition on Loch Shin followed on the 16/17th July. Frank Durdle had the 2nd heaviest bag over the 2 days while Dave MacGregor from Loch Achonachie and Archie Prentice won third heaviest boat.
The Morison trophy (in memory of Tom Fraser) is presented to the captor of
the heaviest salmon from our water.
The Cup for the Senior Competition
2004 went to Ewen Robertson for his 11lb Fish caught in June.
However, the fish winning this year's competition is still beaten by the gleaming,
near 20lb salmon caught by Alphonse a few seasons ago!
Some years ago, Dr Somerled Fergusson kindly provided the Fergusson trophy
for the heaviest sea trout to be caught by a junior member. Sadly, the sea trout
are becoming so scarce that we occasionally have difficulty finding recipients
for the trophy! The Fergusson Cup for the junior members, 2002 season, was awarded
to Conor Scott
who caught a number of fish,
the biggest being 2lb.
Well done to both winners!
We also organise an annual boat fly fishing competition for our senior members
during the summer months on one of our local trout fishing lochs: usually Achilty
or Tarvie. The junior members competition is absolutely free in order to encourage
our young/potential members: their complimentary copy of our excellent Novice's
Handbook is also free. Watch your Newsletter and Website for details of these
competitions and other events.
