Winter 2006
Seasons Greetings to all BAC members. This is a short newsletter bringing end of season updates and a wee competition for our junior members. There will not be another newsletter before the start of the 2007 season.
Heaviest Fish.
This years heaviest fish award goes to Frank Durdle with a cracking Salmon of
12 1/4 pounds.
Annual General Meeting Update.
We held our AGM on the 16th November where we , discussed the following;
-Paul Summerlin stood down as our Vice President. He'd done a sterling job over
the last year introducing several new ideas and approaches to the way the works.
Paul will continue his excellent management of the club's web site www.beaulv-angling-
club.co.uk.
-John Szarkiewicz was elected our new Vice President with Frank Durdle being
re- elected as President. Paul Pacey was elected to the
committee
-The club accounts were approved. The club operated with a very small surplus
over the last year. As a result, it was agreed not to increase our permit costs
next season.
- The proposal to bring forward the cut off date for renewing permits to the
end of March was approved. There were a very small number of outstanding catch
returns. It is club policy to fine those returning their permits late. The club
has a legal requirement to submit an accurate annual catch return for our water.
- Permits for 2007 have been approved and should be available for purchase from
Morison in Beauly before Christmas. We have made some changes to the permits
which will make it easier to record catches next season.
2007 Season Opening.
Our season opens on the 11th of February where we traditionally have a wee get
together at Beat 1. While 11th February 2007 falls on a Sunday and therefore
we can't fish, we still propose to meet at Beat 1 at 11.00 am to toast in the
new season. There will be warm snacks and refreshments available to keep the
winter chill at bay, so pop along if you'd like to celebrate the new season
and meet other club members.
Junior Competition. Here is a
chance for 3 of our junior members to win a new box of flies to start of their
2007 season. Over the page is a word search that contains the names of 17 types
of fish you could catch in the river Beauly or the Moray Firth. Fish names can
be read horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Entries completed by junior members should be sent to me at Pabbay, Wardlaw
Road, Kirkhill, Inverness by the 8th January 2007. The first three names drawn
out of the hat on the 10th January will each win a box of 10 popular trout or
salmon flies courtesy of Morisons in Beauly. Please indicate on your entry whether
you would like trout or salmon flies. The competition is only open to junior
members of the club.
Finally. On behalf of
the committee I would like to wish all our members and families a happy Christmas
with best wishes for the new-year and a productive 2007 season.
