Hi there. bid you know that we have 11 Junior, 76 Senior and 23 Senior Citizen members making up our 110 member limit this year. Did you also know that after three consecutive years as a Senior, Senior Citizens may fish FOC; now doesn't that give you some incentive to reach 65? Our BAC permit contains a considerable amount of information; the 'Notes' and 'Rules' must be read before starting fishing. Rule '7' is one of the more important i.e. Anglers must move down one metre at every cast, irrespective of whether or not any other anglers are waiting.
COMPETITIONS: The Junior Competition will again be held at the Tarvie Bait Loch on Wed 19th June from to 9pm. Existing and new participants will be contacted shortly to finalise travel and other arrangements. This is a free night, paid for by BAC to encourage a limited number of young anglers in the Aird District to become more knowledgeable about a sport that can give them lifelong pleasure.
The Senior Competition is being held at Loch Achilty over the two nights, Wed 26th and Thurs 27th June from till 10pm. Please 'phone Frank Durdle (782749) to book one of the places; limited to 12 participants per night. The winners from both competitions now receive a handsome inscribed bronze medal.
PERMITS: At least a dozen new members joined us aftcr the existing member deadline of 30th April was past; that tends to be around the number of members leaving us annually for one reason or another. I've updated our database for 2002, however some of your details will inevitably be incorrect, and postcodes, which we like to us to help our friends at the Post Office, are either missing, incomplete or incorrect in many cases. Consequently, if you wish to complete the attached slip and post/deliver it to me at Georth, Kirkhill, IV5 7NW, I will endeavour to have your details right next time. Although your address details are secure and not divulged to other parties, if you would prefer not to be included for data protection or other reasons, then please let me know.
ANNUAL BUFFET DANCE: This most enjoyable event was supported by more BAC members than in the previous year, hence will probably get a reprieve. A suggestion has been made that representatives from our Exchange Ticket waters should be invited next year; that suggestion will be discussed nearer next time. Meantime a big thank you is due to our indomitable trcasurer John 'Yorkie' Brocklehurst who managed to sell the tickets and to make all arrangements while up to his arm lambing.
CASTING INSTRUCTION: Our April 'event' was not well supported, however the few anglers that turned up were much improved casters by the time they left. If we run a similar event next season, we will publicise it more widely, such as in Morison of Beauly, J Graham & Co. Inverness, etc. Frank Durdle will be doing a couple of display sessions at the Kirkhill Jubilee Gala on Sat 22nd June; there should be something there for all the family so please try to attend.
POACHING PATROLS: Because of recent problems on both our River and Firth fishings, they will now be stepped up. Would any ex-special forces members please report for duty.
FISHY STORY: Frank Durdle has interrupted my Newsletter writing to tell me about the 19.5 lb salmon he has just landed in Beat 2 some 20 minutes after hooking it in Beat 1. He had a tremendous battle with it, a fish so large that it just wouldn't go into his net, hence beach it he did: didn't I suggest going to the gym? If we dont catch a bigger one, he keeps the cup, so please get fishing! Paul Summerlin, our expert Webmaster (if that's th term), will endeavour to have a picture of it on our web site shortly (www.beauly-angling-club.co.uk). His wife Janet designed excellent car stickers for us; they're still on sale at Morison of Beauly. D'on't forget our secretary Dave Sellers; he has the task of folding/addressing/stamping then posting this Newsletter to you.
