3:Opening Day:

14th Feb 2026 11am at the Downie Hut confirmed with the syndicate.
Yorky was asked to contact Murray Mackenzie, a junior, to perform the first cast, and also to contact the Piper to pipe us down to the water on Saturday. We need to send out invitations to Junior Members to renew and to come along to the Opening.
Donations have started to arrive – Iain will get them together – and Ord Distillery have agreed to furnish a bottle and banner for the opening. Paul to produce a few leaflets to advertise the Opening for the Co-op, surgeries, Halls etc. and contact Highland News for a journalist. As Iain may be working Jim has agreed to give the Toast. Janet & Margaret to provide the sausage rolls and cake etc, Jim with the hot drinks and Neil to organise the Raffle.

Toby will be around on Saturday morning for members renewing or joining.

4:Downie Fishing:

Members have started to put their names forward for rod days as they receive their Permits. Suggested price of £35 was agreed so that costs are covered this year. We will aim to get the Downie money in to us when we start on the Downie. The Club will send out the usual rules and regs for Downie fishing along with the codes for the gate and the Downie Hut.

5: AOB:

Ladies Day – proposed date of March 21st with the 28th held in case of bad weather.
This will be during the Downie Fishing so Saturday members will be affected. The plan is to have certified casting instructors on hand for teaching, someone to teach basic fly-tying skills and others for general fishing instruction on the River. There will be a bbq. It was suggested a small charge be made for the day – to be confirmed.

SSEN Letter – The Club have not yet been able to generate a letter to SSEN in complaint about the lack and general heights of water over the last few years, free passage of migratory species and the lack of working counters on the dams. The Committee will put together a letter to SSEN and other interested parties.

Bank Clearance – Beat 1 on the North side needs clearing, the Club have not been down for a couple of years. A Sunday was suggested after the start of the Season. Suggested dates to go out in a Newsletter. The proposal is to do the heavy clearing one Sunday – tree limbs, fallen branches etc. and grass trimming and path clearance the next Sunday. Iain will again be contacting the Lovat Caravan Park regards access to Beats 1 -3 for grass cutting and clearance.

End of Meeting 8:30pm.
Next meeting TBA.
